Attica, July 17 – Edward DeSutter 75, one of Fountain County’s best known residents died last evening at 6:45 o’clock at the family residence on North Perry Street after an illness of one year.  The son of John and Anna Marie DeSutter, he was born March 9, 185 in Waterlandkertye, Holland and came to America when 23 years of age. He first resided on a farm east of Attica and later farmed near Odell.  On April 18, 1878, he was married to Catherine VanDame in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Attica. They went to housekeeping on a farm near Odell and in 1898 purchased a farm 7 miles from Attica in Davis Township where they lived until he retired and came to Attica in 1927.  Surviving with the widow are 12 children: Mrs. Ralph Nelson; Mrs. Louis DeHahn and Miss Bertha DeSutter of Lafayette; Sister Ann Celeste, a member of the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary’s-of-the-Woods, Terre Haute; Miss Henrietta DeSutter at home; Charles of Whiting; Raymond and Francis of Attica; Paul, Mrs. Peter DeBruicker and Lawrence living east of Attica and John of West Lebanon. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 9 from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Malay as celebrant at a requiem mass. Interment in the Catholic cemetery.
